Entrepreneurship class runs Operation Christmas Child
Mr. Nguyen's Entrepreneurship class came together to organize Operation Christmas Child at St. Benedict's Catholic Secondary School, resulting in the incredible collection of 141 shoeboxes for children in need all around the world. From the start, we worked as a team to plan and execute the event, dividing responsibilities among each member of our classroom to ensure that every detail was covered.
We promoted the initiative with posters, announcements, and even commercials that we filmed to encourage our school and community to take part in our operation.

141 shoeboxes for children in need around the world
As the campaign kicked off, we continually worked throughout the week to collect, organize, and pack these shoeboxes with care, ensuring that each recipient received some essential items such as hygiene products and clothing, in addition to some WOW items such as toys, board games, school supplies, crafting items, and a St. Benedict drawstring bag. Lastly, with the help of Ms. Trentini's students, a special personalized card from our school community was sent along with these boxes to their final destination!

The goal of this initiative was to bring together our community and look beyond ourselves and our immediate needs this Christmas season. The experience was very fun, challenging, and engaging for our Entrepreneurship class, forcing us to move away from the profitable sides of business to practice a nonprofit organization. It was incredible to see our school community exceed our initial goal of 50 boxes, rallying together towards our global effort that will assist children living in challenging areas.
The success of collecting 141 shoeboxes reflects the hard work and generosity of everyone involved, leaving a lasting impact far beyond our classroom. It was a powerful reminder of the joy and hope that can come from giving.
Although our class led the initiative, it was absolutely a collaborative effort from multiple people within our school and community of businesses in the Tri-Cities. The success of Operation Christmas Child could not have been possible without the continued support of our partners, including the School Activity Council (SAC), our school teachers, parents, guardians, and community partners.
Finally, spreading holiday cheer to those in need was made possible with your generosity. We want to thank all students in our school for getting involved with our Operation Christmas Child in their own way! Thank you for spreading our message and bringing in what you can to help us push forward our goal! The energy in our school was spectacular, as classrooms were filled with enthusiasm and encouragement as students filled boxes and did their part!

The Dance Class Trip was a Hit!
On November 28, The Dance Class went to St. Jacob's Playhouse to watch "A Christmas Carol - The Pantomime" which got us into the Christmas spirit for sure! We shared many laughs and were awed by the talented performers and all of the cool production aspects. After the show, we had lunch at the famous St. Jacob's Market and then headed to the Drayton Youth Academy facility to participate in a dance workshop with a professional dancer/choreographer. We also had the opportunity to meet the director and head choreographer of the show. It was an inspiring and unforgettable day for our dance students!

St. Benedict Esports Team Earns 2nd and 3rd Place in Conestoga College Tournament
On Monday December 9th, the St. Benedict Esports team took to the stage at Conestoga College, where they competed in the WCDSB Rocket League tournament. The day began with multiple round robin games, where the Saints established their strength with Team 1 (Hassaan Khan, Noah Nagai, Daunte Elliott) securing a 4-0 record in their group stage. Team 2 (Hassan Adnan, Jace Krysko, Carter Bernard) brought the same level of dominance, achieving a 3-1 record in their group stage.
When the playoffs began, the Saints earned themselves a spot in round 2, where both teams 1 and 2 won against their Cambridge rival, Monsignor Doyle. The Saints then met a bittersweet moment: they would have to play each other in the semifinals. They had fun during this matchup, knowing that St. Benedict would be represented in the finals, however, they had to face their friends to achieve this. Through a hard match-up where the teams went neck and neck, Team 2 ended up winning.
St. Mary’s also had to beat their own team to advance to the finals. Before the grand final, Saints Team 1 played against the other St. Mary’s team in the third place game. Their energy and teamwork prevailed, earning them a spot on the podium.
At the end of the day, St. Benedict Team 1 sat on the big screen, facing St. Mary’s - the only team to take a game off of them. They fought hard against them, working together through each challenge they faced. In the end, they lost in a heartbreakingly close game. They still earned their spot in second place, a massive accomplishment for the new St. Benedict Esports team.
Coaches Rolland Chidiac and Sydney Furtado are incredibly proud of the skill and heart both teams brought to the tournament. They are excited to see what the future holds for the Esports team at St. Benedict. Go Saints!
