Wednesday, November 1: Grade 9 "Take our Kids to Work" day
St. Benedict is encouraging all grade 9 students to take part in "Take Our Kids to Work" day on Wednesday, November 1. Your grade 9 sons and daughters have received information about this event and a permission form in their period 1 class. More than 250,000 grade 9 students across Canada participate annually in this event.
Where possible, we invite parents to have their own child spend a day on the job with them. If this is not possible, the information being sent home has other suggestions for you.
The intent of the day is to have students gain exposure to the skills required in today’s workplace, to explore careers in practical ways and to begin career discussions with adults about the type of work that they do.
In order to participate in the day, grade 9 students must return a signed consent form. If students and parents choose not to participate in "Take Our Kids to Work" day, they are expected to attend their regular classes on November 1.
Please watch for, and ask your sons and daughters for the information that they have received, and have them return the form by the end of the week!

Junior Soccer Saints smash Celtics
The Junior Saints FC delivered another convincing win 5-0 win on Friday against St. David's. The squad was motivated to capture a shutout and match their goal tally from the last time they took on the Celtics. The team came out flying with Blake Doherty scoring one of his two goals within the first 5 minutes. The team kept their composure and maintained possession for most of the match while strategically scoring another 3 goals by Martim Gomes, Evan Quinn and Darko Senc. Sebastian Dummont kept his composure under fire on multiple occasions to record his first "clean sheet" of the season, yet the exceptionally gritty defense of Pablo Garzon and Antonio Frois were also instrumental in holding off the Celtic's attack.
