This week, we conclude Sylvester McCoy’s introduction as the 7th Doctor with Parts 3 & 4 of TIME AND THE RANI.  It remains one of the most bonkers stories of the 1980s, but it’s also a story with a freshness of ambition that arrived at just the right time in the program’s history. However, watching it brings a pang of sorrow to the heart, as it wasn’t so long ago that Kata O’Mara — the irreplaceable Rani herself — left us for that big TARDIS in the sky.  Watching her play the ultimate Time Lady villain is a suitable tribute to her skills, and certainly helps to make Sylvester McCoy’s debut as the Doctor that much more memorable.
