Dance – Introductory, Open ATC2OI

This course emphasizes the development of students’ technique and creative skills relating to the elements of dance and the tools of composition in a variety of performance situations. Students will identify responsible personal and interpersonal practices related to dance processes and production, and will apply technologies and techniques throughout the process of creation to develop artistic scope in the dance arts. NOTE: This course is available to students in ALL grade levels.

This course emphasizes the development of students’ movement vocabulary relating to dance genres from around the world, and of their understanding of the elements of dance and the tools of composition in a variety of performance situations. They will apply tools and techniques throughout the process of creation and presentation, and reflect on how studies in the dance arts affect personal identity.

Students will perform and develop skills acquired in previous guitar classes. Special emphasis will be given to develop finger picking and chord/melody playing. Students will perform appropriate works in contemporary popular styles and will include medium to advanced repertoire and the study of many leading guitar players. In duets and ensembles, they will also plan, market and produce musical productions, making use of appropriate technology, and will evaluate the results. RECOMMENDED: AMG2OI

This course serves as a technical introduction into the field of design as a preparation for AWD4MI. Students are expected to have good skills in drawing and painting before attempting this course. Visual Arts – Applied Design AWD4MI

This course is intended for the student who is considering a career in a design related field. Understanding the concepts and medium of visual communication is its goal. Units build on the concepts learned in AVD3M in the areas of illustration, typography, corporate trademarks, and package design. Projects involving the school and community will be encouraged. Technical proficiency as well as creative problem-solving should be evident in their expanded portfolio of assignments. This course incorporates units in Graphics, Fashion, Interior and Architectural Design.
