LEAP is a cross training program for self-motivated student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional athletic potential in a given sport. Applicants must be working toward a provincial/ national/ international championship outside of high school sport (e.g. rep sports teams, travel OBA, OVFL, etc.) LEAP will focus on developing transferable performance related sports skills including strength, speed, agility, coordination, endurance, power, and flexibility. Sign up for your grade level and complete an application package . Completed applications must be in the St. Benedict PHE office by the deadline outlined in the application package. It is the student’s responsibility to return completed applications to St. Benedict. Please do not expect your elementary school to courier your application. You will not be registered for LEAP unless your application is complete and received on time. There are no exceptions to this policy. All students enrolled in LEAP will occasionally be travelling to community facilities such as the YMCA. There will be a cost involved to use these facilities. Pre-Advanced Placement English (Pre-AP) ENG2DP
Students in this course will meet the same curriculum expectations and cover the same workload as students in ENG 2DI. This course is designed for independent learners who are highly motivated in the area communications, including reading, writing, oral communications and media studies. Some course content will be studied at a deeper level to enhance critical thinking skills in preparation for university. ENG2DI – English (Academic) is a similar course and you will not receive credit for taking
COURSE NOTE: This course is recommended for students seeking enrichment and whose average in English exceeds the provincial average of 75% (a level 4 in English in previous years is highly recommended). Students need to complete a pre-AP application form from the English Department or Guidance Office and submit it to the Guidance Office.

Intensive French FSF2DN
This course provides opportunities for students to communicate in French about personally relevant, familiar, and academic topics in real-life situations with increasing independence. Students will exchange information, ideas, and opinions with others in guided and increasingly spontaneous spoken interactions. Students will develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through the selective use of strategies that
contribute to effective communication. They will also increase their understanding and appreciation of diverse French-speaking communities, and will develop skills necessary for lifelong language learning.

Analysing Current Economic Issues CIA4UE
This course examines current Canadian and international economic issues, developments, policies, and practices from diverse perspectives. Students will explore the decisions that individuals and institutions, including governments, make in response to economic issues such as globalization, trade agreements, economic inequalities, regulation, and public spending. Students will apply the concepts of economic thinking and the economic inquiry process, as well as economic models and theories, to investigate, and develop informed opinions about, economic trade-offs, growth, and sustainability and related economic issues.

University Cooperative Education Program UCEP12
The University Cooperative Education Program is in partnership with St. Jerome’s University, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. This program allows students who have achieved high academic success the opportunity to begin transitioning to university life before leaving high school. Students earn a university credit, 1 or 2 Grade 12 academic credits (taught by secondary school teachers at the university), and 2 co-op credits through work as a research assistant with a Professor and/or Graduate students at the university in an area of interest for future full-time study. ENG4U, MCV4U,and HRE4M are the course options students may choose. Please note that ENG4U will have an AP (Advanced Placement) option that will enable successful students to write the AP Literature and Composition exam in May.
When choosing UCEP, also choose all the Grade 12 courses you will need to graduate and/or apply to university. The Grade 12 courses offered through UCEP will depend on applicant course requests. UCEP is offered only during first semester.
COURSE NOTE: Access to Co-op is based on student readiness and program availability.
