Celebrating a milestone
Our school board’s Mount Mary Grade 8 Retreat is celebrating the 50th Anniversary this year! To honour this milestone, we are preparing a special 'Testimonial Table' for the celebration in May, and we need your voices.
|
We are looking for students who have attended a Mount Mary retreat to share their stories. If you would like to share your experience to help us celebrate 50 years of faith and community, please come to the Chaplain's office.
|
If you are a St. Benedict parent who remembers attending Mount Mary as part of your own grade 8 retreat, we encourage you to participate as well! Reach out to our Chaplain by email at heejung.cho@wcdsb.ca.

CLASS OF 2026: Important Ticket Information
|
All students in the Class of 2026 who completed the RSVP and indicated they would be attending the Convocation Ceremony on June 9th have received a personal access code in your wcdsb email. Please flag this email, you will require this code to purchase guest tickets for the ceremony. Do not share this code.
|
THE CENTRE IN THE SQUARE BOX OFFICE IS NOW OPEN.
- Ticket price: Each ticket is $5.00, plus any applicable venue fees.
- Ticket Limit: Each student is limited to a maximum of 4 guest tickets.
- Single Use Code: Please note that the code is unique to your student and will only work once to purchase up to 4 tickets. Since this is a one-time code, if you are purchasing tickets for multiple households, please note that the tickets need to be purchased all at once. You may select seats in different locations.
- Deadline: Ticket sales will close on Thursday, April 30th. Once the box office has closed, tickets cannot be purchased and the sales cannot be reopened.

To make your purchase, you will need your student's unique, single-use personal code.

The password is the personal code sent to the student’s wcdsb email. Please do not share this code.

Additional Tickets: The Centre in the Square will notify us AFTER June 1st if there are additional tickets available for purchase. You will be notified via email if this is the case.

For those on a payment plan for your Convocation Fee - please continue to complete your payment fee on school cash online.

The RSVP form will officially close tonight. If you have not RSVP'd to Convocation, please do so immediately in order to receive your guest ticket access code.

The Canadian Team Mathematics Contest (CTMC)
|
Hosted by the University of Waterloo, the CTMC is a high-energy competition that turns mathematics into a team sport. Unlike standard exams, it emphasizes speed and creativity, exploring math concepts far deeper than the standard curriculum. However, it's designed for all secondary grade levels, encouraging students to use curriculum knowledge in extremely creative ways. It also exposes students to key foundational skills required in careers like academia, finance, or engineering.

This year, the St. Benedict math team performed extremely well, averaging a roughly 80% accuracy rate.

Lending a helping hand...
Hey Saints, Are you looking for community service hours? Drop into room 208 any Wednesday from 2pm - 3pm! The Bennies Helping Hands club has open membership - come when you can, and don't worry when you can't make it. Over the next two weeks, they will be working on the cot-making project using milk bags! Each hour you volunteer with this club counts toward your 40 hour grad requirement. See you Wednesday after school in 208!

Double the Impact: "Buy a Fidget, Give a Fidget" Fundraiser!

St. Benedict’s is launching a "double dose" of kindness next week, and we need your help to support our local community! We are hosting a "Buy a Fidget, Give a Fidget" sale to help bring a little comfort to those who need it most.How It WorksFor every fidget toy you purchase for yourself, another fidget will be donated directly to the Pediatric Unit and Emergency Room at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Your purchase will help provide a much-needed distraction and sense of calm for children visiting the hospital.

The St. Benedict’s dance team and dance class are more than excited to accept and attend the Strive School Dance Competition next week.
|
|
|
|
|
The dance pieces at the competition are all student choreographed and performed by high school and elementary school students. The Bennies dancers will be competing at various levels and styles. St. Benedict students are encouraged to show their talents with confidence and to support each other during the competition. We wish the dancers the best of luck and that they make some great memories at their competition!

Hey Bennies – it’s finally spring! The weather is warming up, our seed library is out, and I am ready to get into the garden. Come browse our collection of free seeds, pick up a gardening how-to, and swing by our Preston location to borrow some gardening tools before you get growing.

Unusual Things to Borrow
Retro Gaming, Therapy Dogs, and Nerf Night!
The library offers many different after-school activities and programs. On Thursday 16 April from 2-4pm our ever-popular Retro Gaming returns: this is your chance to play some of the greatest games on iconic consoles, including Duck Hunt, NBA Jam, Mario Party, and more.

On Monday 20 April visit the library at lunch time to spend time with Therapy Dogs from Saint John’s Ambulance. This coincides with Mental Wellness Week, presented by the St. Benedict SAC team.
|
Finally, celebrate your Wellness Week Friday PA Day with Nerf Night at the library from 6-8pm on 24 April. Nerf Night is what it sounds like: after the library closes, we shoot each other with Nerf blasters. It’s the best. Registration is required: sign up here or speak with library staff today!
