Bennies Buddies is a group of student leaders who work to create a warm and inviting experience for grade 9 students. Applications for the next school year come up in June.
Our mission is to empower and guide grade 9 students through high school. We are committed to being positive role models, sharing our school knowledge, and fostering community. By actively engaging with grade 9 students, we aim to enhance their awareness of school activities, provide valuable information, and create a welcoming environment. Through answering questions and offering support, we strive to make grade 9 students feel comfortable, included, and inspired to thrive in our school community. Bennies Buddies is dedicated to fostering connections, building confidence, and ensuring every grade 9 student feels a sense of belonging within our school family.

DOCTOR WHO CLUB: Coming Dec. 8th

An apparent accident has the TARDIS take the newly reunited Doctor & Donna to…someplace unknown. It then promptly runs away, leaving them to face whatever fate awaits them. Join us this week to find out what that fate may be in WILD BLUE YONDER. The adventure begins this Friday, after school in room 226.

THIS IS IT! THE 60th ANNIVERSARY SPECIALS START HERE! Why has the Doctor regenerated into an old face? Why is Donna back in his life…when remembering him would kill her? Who is behind all this…and who is the TRUE new Doctor? Join us for the start of this epic celebration this week with THE STAR BEAST. It all begins this Friday, after school in room 226. Note that each of the specials will be an hour long, so book a little extra time to attend Doctor Who Club in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

National Scholarships are designed to recognize all-round excellence. They are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate’s commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.
For the 2023/2024 academic year, the Western National Scholarship Program includes the following scholarships:

- One Neen Hodgins National Entrance Scholarship valued at $80,000
- One President’s Entrance Scholarship valued at $70,000
- Four President’s Entrance Scholarships valued at $65,000 and up to 15 more at $50,000
- Five James Jenkins President’s Entrance Scholarship for Black Students valued at $50,000
- One Beryl Ivey Continuing Entrance Scholarship valued at $92,000
- One Neen Hodgins President’s International Entrance Scholarship valued at $80,000 for international (visa) students
- Three International President’s Entrance Scholarships valued at $50,000 for international (visa) students
- Up to 15 Faculty Entrance Scholarships valued at $30,000
- Up to 46 National Scholarship Study Abroad Awards valued up to $5,000
- Up to 50 National Merit Awards valued at $2,000 for one year
