Congratulations to the Senior Girls’ Basketball team for winning the Eastwood Early Bird tournament this past weekend. The girls beat Great Lakes from Sarnia 40-38 in an exciting final. It was a great all around team victory. Way to go girls!
The Junior Girls had quite an introduction to the season as they started the tournament against a strong contender; Frontenac. With a small team of just 8 players, our Bennies girls worked hard to keep up, playing the majority with a point to point variance. A small injury with only 4 minutes left in the game, Frontenac grabbed a lead and was able to maintain it claiming the victory; 57-48. The girls are back on the court tomorrow at 9am to take on Assumption. If you’re available come out to JF Ross high school in Guelph and cheer them on!
There is a link for schedules and scores for all sports on the CWOSSA District 8 Athletics website. Check there frequently for score updates!
Continue to check out the Athletics page on the St. Benedict Website, the BENN Newsletter and the Ranger System for announcements regarding athletics.
Please keep in mind; you can also get involved in athletics at St. Benedict through management of teams, scorekeeping and through athletic council. If you are interested in any of these opportunities please see Mr. Jankura.
Teachers and coaches of sports teams are strongly encouraged to submit team rosters, game results, and information to Mr. Milardovic to have that information posted on the school’s website.
FEES: To help offset the cost of teams and in order to sustain our excellent athletic programs, Parent Council and staff have approved an additional charge for participation on an athletic team. The athletic fee is $50 per team to a maximum of three teams. Athletes must also pay a one time fee of $10-15 for the athletic banquet.
Please Note: Some teams such as football and hockey have additional charges for equipment, rink rental etc.
