Career Discovery Expo for Young Women In Grades 7-12

WATERLOO CAREER DISCOVERY EVENT FOR WCDSB STUDENTS

Dear young women, those who identify as women, and their parents/guardians,

On behalf of Build a Dream and your school board, we invite you to attend our FREE Waterloo Career Discovery Expo on the evening of Wednesday November 22nd at Bingeman’s.

We will be highlighting opportunities in several careers to better assist young women in high school in making career choices. As a community, we recognize the critical role parents play in the development and education of their children, which is why we are providing this opportunity for parents to attend with their daughters and learn more about careers in the growing Sectors.

Our Career Discovery Expo events feature:
• A main stage with theatre seating hosting impactful speakers and panel discussions
• Exhibitor booths that showcase career opportunities with industry partners & Build a Dream’s corporate sponsors.
• Complimentary swag and food
• Access to scholarships, educational tools & resources, door prizes, games and more!

When: Wednesday November 22nd
Time: 5-8pm (Doors open at 5:00 pm, event kicks off at 6:00pm and ends at 8:00 pm)
Where: Bingeman’s Conference Centre

DOCTOR WHO CLUB: Coming Nov. 10th

A haunted house…paranormal investigators in the 1970s…a ghost that straddles the history of Earth from its creation to its destruction…and the 11th Doctor is keeping secrets from his companion Clara.  What’s it all about?  Join us this week and find out as we watch the 2013 episode HIDE.  The mystery deepens this Friday, after school in room 226.

Up to $120,000

Criteria: (must meet at least 2 of 3)

  • Academic Excellence
  • Community, Business or Entrepreneurial Leadership
  • Financial Need
  • Pursuing career in STEM; programs in biology or medical are NOT accepted
  • Submit email address, 2 letters of reference to guidance, 1 page summary of leadership/community involvement

DOCTOR WHO CLUB: Coming Nov. 3rd

With the imminent return of David Tennant & Catherine Tate as the team of the Doctor and Donna, what better way to celebrate than to watch their first exciting — and hilarious — reunion from 2008.  Join us for sneaky corporate shenanigans and exploding alien fat babies this week with PARTNERS IN CRIME.  The fat will literally fly this week, after school, in room 226.  We will also be holding our NOVEMBER PRIZE RAFFLE!
