When you think about obstacles and opportunities in your life what comes to mind? Money? Education? Who you know? Where you live? All those things can have an impact on the kind of life we live, but, girls also face certain obstacles and stereotypes just because they’re girls.
Champions for Change Club supports the “Because I am a Girl” global initiative to end gender inequality, promote girls’ rights and lift millions of girls – and everyone around them – out of poverty.
Through the Champions for Change Club we’re going to explore different issues that affect girls and women here in Canada and around the world. By understanding these issues, we can take action, make a difference and show the world that being a girl matters – for hope, for power, for positive change.

Criteria:
- are pursuing post-secondary studies in the social services areas (child care, teacher, social worker, etc).
- attend a publicly supported secondary school in Ontario
- have demonstrated a commitment to their academic studies
- have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the area of peer helping in the school.
- have demonstrated leadership in one or more community organizations

DOCTOR WHO CLUB: Coming April 4th

Rose Tyler is invited to take her first trip aboard the TARDIS…and ends up in the far future, witnessing the destruction of the Earth…and a party to celebrate the occasion. She will deal with culture shock, a sudden emergency…and the PTSD of her new friend, the Doctor. Join us this week to watch as Rose takes her first steps into time & space in 2005’s THE END OF THE WORLD. Join us Friday April 5th, after school in room 226. We’ll also be holding our April Prize Raffle.
